Two-fifths is private land, much in mature but previously logged native forest, some pasture and scrub. Most is rolling country, rising to steeper slopes.
Three-fifths is the Coroglen Forest, Pinus radiata at varying stages of maturity, interspersed with bushed gullies and small wetland areas (suitable habitat for Kiwi). Under the canopy are treeferns, Tanekaha, Putaputaweta, Totara, Mahoe etc. The topography is predominantly steep slopes rising to 350 metres.
With regard to fauna, there are Fantails, Tui, Grey Warblers, Silvereyes, Shining Cuckoo, Kereru, and Kiwi. Moreporks are heard when kiwi listening. Pest fauna include mustelids, rats, feral cats, and feral pigs.
